Social members are a big part of the Rush community. Even if you can’t play you can still support us by cheering us on at games. You’re also welcome to all of our social activities like events including third-halves (post-match celebrations) and team outings throughout the year.
Nope! Players start at all fitness levels. Rugby will help you get in shape.
Absolutely. There is a position on the pitch for every shape and size of body. Rugby positions are specialized so that it is actually advantageous to be shorter and/or heavier for certain positions.
For your very first practice any athletic clothing and shoes are fine. If you want to play regularly you’ll need cleats, a mouthguard, and team shorts.
During the Spring and Fall seasons we practice for 2 hours every Tuesday and Thursday evening. Matches are on Saturday and typically take 4 hours including warm ups and the game itself.
You don’t have to come to everything to be a member of the team! We understand our players have commitments outside of rugby and are happy to have you join as much as you are able.
Dues for new players are $50 annually (returning players $150). Dues go towards field reservations, coach salaries, etc. In addition to dues you’ll also need to register with Rugby Xplorer ($135 annually). This registration provides secondary health insurance to help pay for any injuries during practices or matches.
Do not let the cost of playing prevent you from coming out. We are committed to making rugby accessible to all, including through financial assistance.
Yes, just like in any sport you can get hurt playing rugby. That said, we do everything we can to keep the game as safe as possible. During practice we learn proper tackling techniques and devote extensive time to warming up and stretching. Our coaches’ #1 priority is player safety.
Yes! We welcome social members. As a social member you are welcome to all of our social events including third-halves (post-match celebrations) and team outings throughout the year. Social dues are $60 annually and help support the team. They also get you team gear!
